Manuel Uy Resort – Calatagan Batangas

Travel dates: December 29-30, 2016

Here’s a new spot for budget traveler like me who really wants a quick beach escape. I recommend this place to those who love the beach even if you are not swimming, beautiful landscape and of course sunset. Went here before 2016 ended with Niel and new friend Ismael. Budget for this trip is P1,000 to P1,200, the more friends – cheaper!

How to get there:

  1. Go to van terminal at the back of Metropoint Mall in Pasay, fare is P180 each. Travel time is 3-4 hours depending on the traffic in Tagaytay area.
  2. Get off Calatagan terminal where you can hire a tricycle going to the resort. You may contact Kuya Kiko in advance at 0920-3426812 for a sundo. The rate is P200 good for 3 person. He also offers tent rental for only P400 overnight.
  3. You may buy cooked food in the market or take out in a fast food like we did. You may also bring your own food for overnight stay. In our case we just requested the caretaker to cook instant pancit canton and canned goods for our dinner. You just have to pay for paluto fee. You can also ask for a refill of purified water.
  4. Entrance fee for day tour is P50 while overnight is P100 per head.
  5. You can avail tent in the resort for P500 goof for 3 person only plus P50 pitch fee.
  6. No need to book in advance, the resort is not too crowded. Well for now because it’s not yet peak season.
  7. Optional – island hopping for P150 per head
  8. You may ask the caretaker to avail the electricity or light bulb for P100 and extension cord for your gadgets – P100 also
  9. Expect CR fee and water for banlaw is kinda salty

  2. Hmm I wonder what is the 100php entrance for if you still have to pay for CR use and pay for tent pitching. On top of the 500php for tent you still have to pay a separate pitching fee right?

        here you go…
Just got here last February 19, 2017. We left QC at 1am and arrived at 5am (no traffic congestion). Husband used motorcycle while i drove the sedan so we didnt use the toll gates and looked for an alternate way to get.

The place is awesome but it was 5 in the morning when we arrived so no one assisted us. But the gate was open so we have entered the premises without a hassle. soon as sun showed up, some staff asked us for the entrance fee (Php 50/head daytour) kids are free (7yrs old was our eldest kid). Where we parked, many tents were already assembled so we thought it was the actual place already. There’s a picnic table (Php 300.00) beside so we occupied it after the last occupant packed up their things and tents.

But when the sun broke we explored the beach and realized there’s a more developed area where electricity is available. Its after you cross a small Bamboo bridge. The sand is maintained no little branches scattered to hurt your feet. But its kind of far from the parking area so…

The comfort room is clean (Php 15 per use for adult, Php 10 for kids).

Overall this experience is awesome. No regrets for a long tiring drive. But will consider an overnight stay next time we go here. Btw there are tents with kutson (bed) in the developed area. I think those are for rent I havent had the time to ask though but it will be very nice to stay there for a night. Did I mention, the sunset is mesmerizing.

  12. Hi Joanne!

We’re actually going there this coming Saturday.
Read there’s pitching fee and all, now we’re having second thoughts coz there are seaweeds.
You’ve mentioned Burot beach..open pa ba yun up to date?
Kasi may nakausap ako last February na katiwala yata dun..sabi nya closed na daw and he’s referring Ivory beach.
    True ba?

My officemate went there last saturday sobrang dami daw tao hehe.

Pwede ka mag bus sa may Coastal terminal but I think there’s schedule lang not sure kung anong oras. Enjoy! If you get the number of the owner please share it here dami kase nag aask hehe thanks again!

  21. We went to Manuel Uy beach last April 22-23 and to be honest medyo disappointed ako.
Being with your friends and the experience of camping was fun but I’ll be very honest hindi magandang maligo kasi malabo at makati yung tubig. ang babaw ng tubig and need mong lumakad papuntang swimming area, maraming dead corals and sea urchins kaya ingat talaga para hindi masugatan.
The hype of the sandbar lang siguro ang nagdala kaya tipong dinudumog sya ng tao (sorry if that is rude) but being a Batangueña myself I would say mas marami pang mas magandang beaches at hindi crowded.

    1. Hi Jen, it’s okay to share your experience. Magkaiba lang tayo ng situation bec the last time we went there (Dec29) not crowded and di pa sha gaanong kilala maybe. We even tried skinny dipping after 6pm 😎 (bucketlisted✔) friends’ company plus stunning sunset are perfect to end the day. We also had smores that night plus our ka-tent was playing guitar (can u imagine it). Sunrise and swimming the following morning na tho you’re correct sa sea urchins and corals. Overall relaxing and fun experience naman samin. ☺Hope you can recommend other beaches in Batangas too. 👍
