Manuel Uy Resort – Calatagan Batangas

Travel dates: December 29-30, 2016

Here’s a new spot for budget traveler like me who really wants a quick beach escape. I recommend this place to those who love the beach even if you are not swimming, beautiful landscape and of course sunset. Went here before 2016 ended with Niel and new friend Ismael. Budget for this trip is P1,000 to P1,200, the more friends – cheaper!

How to get there:Β

  1. Go to van terminal at the back of Metropoint Mall in Pasay, fare is P180 each. Travel time is 3-4 hours depending on the traffic in Tagaytay area.
  2. Get off Calatagan terminal where you can hire a tricycle going to the resort. You may contact Kuya Kiko in advance at 0920-3426812 for a sundo. The rate is P200 good for 3 person. He also offers tent rental for only P400 overnight.
  3. You may buy cooked food in the market or take out in a fast food like we did. You may also bring your own food for overnight stay. In our case we just requested the caretaker to cook instant pancit canton and canned goods for our dinner. You just have to pay for paluto fee. You can also ask for a refill of purified water.
  4. Entrance fee for day tour is P50 while overnight is P100 per head.
  5. You can avail tent in the resort for P500 goof for 3 person only plus P50 pitch fee.
  6. No need to book in advance, the resort is not too crowded. Well for now because it’s not yet peak season.
  7. Optional – island hopping for P150 per head
  8. You may ask the caretaker to avail the electricity or light bulb for P100 and extension cord for your gadgets – P100 also
  9. Expect CR fee and water for banlaw is kinda salty

    1. Can you swim in the beach? Hindi naman mabato? I read in a different review that the beach has a lot of jellyfish, is this true? Tha ks.

      1. hi mam joanne gud day po ask ko lng pg nag motor po ako at ns calatagan nko ano po yung palatandaan n malapit nko npansin kopo n papasok sya s loob salamat po…

  2. Hmm I wonder what is the 100php entrance for if you still have to pay for CR use and pay for tent pitching. On top of the 500php for tent you still have to pay a separate pitching fee right?

    1. Hi Joanne its me again. planning to go there tonight. If we leave at 12mn from Qc then well probably arrive around 4am. Will there be people to assist us at this time? Coz mom wants to experience the sunrise by the beach. Thanks in advance.

      1. Sorry for late reply. Not sure kase you have to pass by the house of the owner to pay and register. And magdrive kapa papasok puntang beach.

      2. Hi Clipie, natuloy b kayo?plan din kasi nming umalis around 11pm so probably 3pm nasa area n kame or early than that p..may nag assist p s inyo or open b sila even at that time?

        here you go…
Just got here last February 19, 2017. We left QC at 1am and arrived at 5am (no traffic congestion). Husband used motorcycle while i drove the sedan so we didnt use the toll gates and looked for an alternate way to get.

The place is awesome but it was 5 in the morning when we arrived so no one assisted us. But the gate was open so we have entered the premises without a hassle. soon as sun showed up, some staff asked us for the entrance fee (Php 50/head daytour) kids are free (7yrs old was our eldest kid). Where we parked, many tents were already assembled so we thought it was the actual place already. There’s a picnic table (Php 300.00) beside so we occupied it after the last occupant packed up their things and tents.

But when the sun broke we explored the beach and realized there’s a more developed area where electricity is available. Its after you cross a small Bamboo bridge. The sand is maintained no little branches scattered to hurt your feet. But its kind of far from the parking area so…

The comfort room is clean (Php 15 per use for adult, Php 10 for kids).

Overall this experience is awesome. No regrets for a long tiring drive. But will consider an overnight stay next time we go here. Btw there are tents with kutson (bed) in the developed area. I think those are for rent I havent had the time to ask though but it will be very nice to stay there for a night. Did I mention, the sunset is mesmerizing.

  3. Thanks for the information. By the way, sa umaga ba talaga pag super low tide eh talagang ganyan?

    1. Yes ganyan sha sa umaga. Mag island hopping nalang kayo meron doon inoofer P150 per head parang sandbar (sorry di ko pa din napuntahan un kahit 3x na ako nkarating calatagan hehe) super nice ng sunset and sunrise Go na!

      Liked by 1 person

  4. Hi, from calatagan terminal how long pa ung travel papunta sa beach? sa terminal din ba marami na tricycle na pwede maghatid? and aside sa metropoint mall san pa po pwede sumakay to calatagan?

    Salamat πŸ™‚

  5. Hi..meron din bang option to rent a nipa hut? or table?aside po s tour lng kasi..would really appreciate your prompt response, were planning to go there kasi this weekend..thanks

      1. Good day po, ask lang po kung may mga island po na pupunthan pag once po na nag a island hopping po. Then po how much po ang arkila sa boat po. Thanks . -ROSALIE

  6. Nice Blog very informative… ask ko lang sana kung san banda sa Metropoint ung Van na sakayan? kung dun ba sa side ng kabayan hotel or dun papunta sa Llanas? magkanu po trike if 4 na tao and may madadaanan bang market where we can buy raw meats before dun sa mismong beach para sana konte lang bitbit we are planning kase to go by this holy week .. may van pa kaya nun sa metropoint? thank u so much Godbless

You can ask naman if di mo makita.

  7. Question po Ms. Joanne. Safe naman yung place if overnight? We are planning to go there with tent.

T_T josko..

      1. isa pa pong tanong hahaha. uhmm dun po ba sa Calatagan Public Market, aside from sakayan ng Van/Bus to Pasay , may sakayan din po bang papuntang Nasugbu bus terminal na may sakayan dn pa pasay/manila/cubao?

balak po kasi namin hintayin yung sunset, eh since sabi mo nga po hanggang 4pm lng ung last trip to pasay, naghahanap pa po kmi ng ibang way pauwi po.

  10. your blog is really great! I enjoyed reading it! Thanks for sharing your experiences. we will be going there for my daughter’s birthday and we plan to stay overnight. My only worry is the safety for overnighters even on a weekday. are there security 24/7?

  11. Hi Joanne!

We’re actually going there this coming Saturday.
Read there’s pitching fee and all, now we’re having second thoughts coz there are seaweeds.
You’ve mentioned Burot pa ba yun up to date?
Kasi may nakausap ako last February na katiwala yata dun..sabi nya closed na daw and he’s referring Ivory beach.
    True ba?

Sana di crowded this coming long weekend ng apr 29- May 1.

  13. Good Afternoon po, kaya po kaya ito kung mag-motor lang ? plan po sana namin eh kht isang motor lang po πŸ™‚ and kung mas best po bang pumunta ng weekdays para konti ang tao or same lang po kapag weekends? Thank You πŸ™‚

  14. hi Ms. Joane can i ask, pde bang more days than overnight lang, mga 3days 2nights? pag may dala kaming sariling tent pero nde lahat meron. Need pa din mag rent.
May contacat number ba cla to ask some questions!

  15. Hi meron bang ihawan na mahihiraman doon or any cooking utensils? Or we have to bring our own pa?

Also, kailangan ba magpareserve ng tent? Baka kasi maubusan ot marami naman sila doon? Peak season pa naman πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Anna, pwede ka humiram kina Ate pero better bring ur own nalang. Di lang sila ang nagpapa rent ng tent meron din doon nag-ooffer pero agahan mo nalang and choose weekdays since bakasyon naman to avoid crowded beach. Thanks enjoY!

  16. Hi ms joanne, tanonh ko lang po how much pitching fee if mydala kame tent? Blk kasi nmin mag punta sa april 20-21. Safe ba kung overnight ? and may ihawan po ba? Thanks

    1. Safe overnight may nagbabantay and super accommodating nila kuya doon kaya no worries. Bring or buy ihawan sa palengke nalang muna. I think April 20-21 is better kase di weekend πŸ™‚

  17. Hi Joanne,

I just want to ask if you have the contact number of the caretaker of Manuel Uy Beach?

    Thank you ion advance

  18. Hi Ms Joanne!

ask ko lang ano oras kaya first trip nun van sa pasay? and ask ko lang sa banda sa pasay yun? mismo likod ba nang kabayan hotel? Thankyou πŸ™‚

    1. 6am kami noon nakarating sa terminal, maliit lang sha walking distance between Kabayan hotel and MRT taft station, may kalsada papasok doon konting lakad lang on the right side. Pinupuno yung van nila. Pwede ka mag bus sa may Coastal terminal but I think there’s schedule lang not sure kung anong oras. Enjoy! If you get the number of the owner please share it here dami kase nag aask hehe thanks again!

  19. Hi po… πŸ™‚ ask ko lang po sna if maraming sea orchin sa manuel uy beach… sabi po kasi nila halos karamihan po daw ng beach sa calatagan ngaun is maraming sea orchin… We are planning po kasi na mag beach this coming MAY, original plan is sa tingloy MASASA beach kaso hindi raw muna tumatanggap ng turista bcoz sa nangyaring lindol. kaya nag hahanap po kami ngaun ng beach somewhere in batangas except tingloy. Big help po samin ung info na irereply mo po… thank you very much in advance πŸ™‚

    1. Meron din pong sea urchins and corals. ☺

  20. We went to Manuel Uy beach last April 22-23 and to be honest medyo disappointed ako.
Being with your friends and the experience of camping was fun but I’ll be very honest hindi magandang maligo kasi malabo at makati yung tubig. ang babaw ng tubig and need mong lumakad papuntang swimming area, maraming dead corals and sea urchins kaya ingat talaga para hindi masugatan.
The hype of the sandbar lang siguro ang nagdala kaya tipong dinudumog sya ng tao (sorry if that is rude) but being a BatangueΓ±a myself I would say mas marami pang mas magandang beaches at hindi crowded.

    1. Hi Jen, it’s okay to share your experience. Magkaiba lang tayo ng situation bec the last time we went there (Dec29) not crowded and di pa sha gaanong kilala maybe. We even tried skinny dipping after 6pm 😎 (bucketlistedβœ”) friends’ company plus stunning sunset are perfect to end the day. We also had smores that night plus our ka-tent was playing guitar (can u imagine it). Sunrise and swimming the following morning na tho you’re correct sa sea urchins and corals. Overall relaxing and fun experience naman samin. ☺Hope you can recommend other beaches in Batangas too. πŸ‘

Dadaanan mo house ng may-ari to pay entrance fee and rent ng tent.

Nagpunta kami last April 30 holiday at puno sa Manuel Uy di agad kami nakapasok. Punta ka nalang ng weekdays para sure.

      1. Hi! Good evening po πŸ™‚ ask ko lang if pano papunta ng manuel uy pag galling ka ng south? Sa alabang po . thanks .God bless.
